Radamel Falcao Left Out Of Colombia’s Copa America Squad

falcao-columbiaThe decline in the career of the former best striker in the world has taken another disappointing turn as Radamel Falcao has been left out of Colombia’s Copa America squad.

The 30-year-old has been omitted from Jose Pekerman’s provisional 40-man team to play in the centenary edition of the Copa America tournament, which begins on 3 June and runs until 26 June.

The striker, currently on loan at Chelsea, is Colombia’s all-time top goalscorer, but he has not played for Jose Pekerman since last October’s 3-0 World Cup qualifying loss against Uruguay. Falcao missed the the next two games through injury and then was left out of the team that took on Bolivia and Ecuador in March, both of which ended in wins for Colombia, and will now miss out on representing his country at the Copa America.

AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca and Borussia Dortmund’s Adrian Ramos are expected to lead the attack for the tournament while Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez, Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado and Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina have been included in the squad.

Colombia begin the tournament with a clash against hosts the USA on the opening day, before facing other Group A opponents Paraguay and Costa Rica.
