Ole Continues His Dominance Over Pep As United Beat City Again

Manchester in red

Once again Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got the better of Pep Guardiola as Manchester United won 2-0 at the Ethiad on Sunday.

With the win Solskjaer He is the only manager to have won more matches against Guardiola (four) than he has lost (three), and the first United coach to win their first three away games against their city rivals.

The latest, on Sunday, was perhaps the best of the lot, as the Red Devils lifted themselves from their recent lethargic displays to end City’s 21-match winning run in style, winning 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium in a result that though unlikely to reignite their own title bid, again proves that when Solskjaer gets it right, they can beat any opposition.

Christian Eriksen’s Free-Kick Sees Inter Win Milan Derby

MIlan Derby

Inter Milan are through to the Coppa Italia semi-finals thanks to a stunning injury-time free-kick by Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen stepped up in the 96th minute to curl home into the top corner to complete a comeback victory for Inter against their bitter rivals AC Milan in what was an ill-tempered affair that saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic sent off for AC Milan.

Ibra had put the Serie A leaders ahead in the first half but his dismissal after the break saw Inter pile on the pressure – and they equalzsed through a Romelu Lukaku penalty on 71 minutes before Eriksen’s stunner.

Liverpool 0 Man United 0

Manchester United kept their place at the top of the Premier League after a 0-0 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

An encounter of few chances saw the Red Devils extend the champions’ scoreless run to three matches, their longest such streak in the top flight since March 2005, in what was Jurgen Klopp’s 200th league game in charge.

Alisson denied Paul Pogba from arguably the best of the opportunities as United’s winless league run against the Reds reached five matches for the first time since 2002.

Still, the result edged them two points clear of Leicester City and ensured Liverpool remain one further back.

Inter Dominate Juventus In Derby D’Italia Win

Juventus v Inter

Inter dealt a blow to JuventusSerie A title defence and moved level on points with leaders Milan by securing a 2-0 victory at San Siro on Sunday.

Former Juve midfielder Arturo Vidal opened his Inter account with a 12th-minute header and Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku wasted chances to increase the Nerazzurri’s lead.

The Bianconeri were unable to make the most of those reprieves as an emphatic finish at the end of a route-one move saw Nicolo Barella double Inter’s advantage.

Controversy As Merseyside Derby Finishes All Square

Everton came from behind twice to maintain their unbeaten start to the Premier League in a Merseyside derby thriller as Liverpool were denied a stoppage-time winner by the video assistant referee.

Sadio Mane put the visitors ahead in the third minute but they were furious soon afterwards when a wild challenge by Everton keeper Jordan Pickford on Virgil van Dijk, committed after an offside decision, saw the defender having to go off injured with VAR failing to review the tackle.

Everton, who had won their previous seven games in all competitions, equalised swiftly at Goodison Park when Michael Keane headed in a corner from the outstanding James Rodriguez.

Will Der Klassiker Decide Title Race?

Der Klassiker

Tomorrow Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund meet in potential title decider. The matchup between first and second place in the Bundesliga is called Der Klassiker or the “German Clasico”.

Since the foundation of the Bundesliga in 1963, they are two of the most successful teams in German football, having won a combined total of 21 of the past 25 Bundesliga titles as of 2019. The two teams also met in the 2013 UEFA Champions League Final.

Bayern Munich head coach Hansi Flick says that the latest Der Klassiker is not a title decider, despite the fact that a win for leaders Bayern at the Allianz Arena would move them seven points clear of Dortmund with six games left.

Olympique Marseille v Paris Saint-Germain Rivalry: Short But Passionate

PSG vs Marseille

The Olympique Marseille v Paris Saint-Germain football rivalry is known by two names, Le Classique and the Derby de France. This is not a rivalry born from proximity, as many are. The two teams are located in cities in different regions of France. It is, instead, a social and cultural rivalry, as Olympique Marseille represents the working class people and port city of Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain is seen as being associated with the ultimate bastion of French society and culture, Paris. It is Marseille, the power center of the south, versus Paris the capital city in the north.

Dortmund And Schalke Rivalry- The Revierderby

Dortmund v Schalke

The Borussia Dortmund v Schalke 04 rivalry is known as the Revierderby, translated the “territory,” or the Ruhr derby. The match is known as ‘the mother of all derbies’ for a reason. It is one of the fiercest rivalries in world football as two of the game’s most passionate sets of fans vie for local bragging rights in Germany’s industrial heartland.

The cities of Dortmund and Gelsenkirchen are separated by less than 20 miles in the Ruhr region. While religious, economic and political differences spice up other derbies, the Revierderby is split simply across one divide: Are you Black-and-Yellow or Royal Blue? There is no middle ground.

Real Madrid With Massive Clasico Win

El Clasico In USA 2020

Real Madrid have returned to the top of La Liga thanks to a late 2-0 win over rivals Barcelona in tight El Clasico clash at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Vinicius Junior and Mariano Diaz’s goals took them a point clear of their bitter rivals at the top of the Liga table and gave them the better head-to-head record, which could be crucial in such a tight title race.

Certainly, there is little to choose between the two teams, as Sunday’s game showed. This entertaining, end-to-end battle at the Santiago Bernabeu between two clearly flawed teams could have gone either way.

Arsenal v Chelsea Rivalry

Arsenal v Chelsea

The Arsenal v Chelsea rivalry pits the two most successful teams in London. Yes, Arsenal’s rivalry with North London neighbors Tottenham Hotspur is more bitter, but when Arsenal and Chelsea meet, there is usually a trophy, or Champions League place up for grabs.

The competitive nature of the fixtures involving the Gunners and the Blues became more intense in the 1930s even though the teams had been meeting for more than 25 years.
