Beckham Makes AC Milan Debut

David Beckham as praised by boss Carlo Ancelotti after making his AC Milan debut in a friendly victory over Hamburg last night.

Becks played the opening 45 minutes of the showpiece clash in Dubai, which the Italian giants won 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
Beckham was greeted by a huge ovation before the game began and played a largely defensive role in midfield, before being replaced by Mathieu Flamini at half-time.

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti substituted for Beckham because of a lack of match fitness saying:

“I think 90 minutes would have been too much for him because he hasn’t played for over two months. Beckham is obviously not playing at his best because of the absence from competitive action, but this last week was very good for him and I’m sure he can be better. He is tactically a sound player and he plays for the team and was always making himself available during the match.”

Beckham is on a two month loan to Milan from the  LA Galaxy to maintain his fitness, but rumors persist that if Beckham plays well that he will be offered a two-year contract in Milan.
