Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly ready to ask Inter Milan to either extend Mauro Icardi’s season-long loan for another campaign or reduce the sum of the option-to-buy clause in his contract.
Icardi joined the Ligue 1 side during the summer on a season-long loan after being left out of Antonio Conte’s plans at Inter Milan, losing his place to Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez in attack.
The Argentine has done well during his season with PSG, who now the club want to re-negotiate the terms of his loan deal, according to L’Equipe.
The Ligue 1 champions would reportedly be satisfied with either scenario of his loan being extended or asking price lowered, but Inter are keen to accept a cash sum this summer.
The current price to buy Icardi is €70 million in the deal that was signed at the start of the season, but PSG want it lowered to around the €50m mark.
PSG have already paid around €15m to have Icardi for the season, which would mean he would cost them around €30m if they repeated this.
Juventus and Napoli have also shown interest in the 27-year-old, but it’s reported that Inter put a clause forcing PSG to pay extra if they bought Icardi and then immediately sold him to a rival Serie A side.
Icardi has scored 20 goals and provided four assists in 31 competitive matches for the French side.
