Barcelona And Arsenal Draw As Chelsea Wins

AC Milan got the new season off to a dramatic start with a thrilling draw at but there were opening victories for , , Porto and APOEL.

Pato struck for inside 25 seconds at Camp Nou, the fifth fastest in history and the earliest on any matchday one. In Group E, Chelsea ensured an English victory against German opposition, beating Group E rivals Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 as were surprisingly held 0-0 at Genk.

Europa League holders Porto defeated nine-man FShakhtar Donetsk 2-1 while in the other Group G game APOEL came from behind to defeat Zenit St Petersburg by the same scoreline,
