Both Milan Managers Get Votes Of Confidence

milan_derbyIt’s unusual the week of the Derby della Madonnina (Milan derby) between Inter and AC Milan that both managers would need votes of confidence from above, especially after both clubs had big European victories this week.

But that is what is happening as Inter chief Massimo Moratti insists that he’s never considered replacing Andrea Stramaccioni while Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has silenced the rumours about the future of Massimiliano Allegri.

Inter have been very up and down this season and have won just two of their last nine games in Serie A and four from the last 14. That run of bad form has increased speculation about Strama’s job but Moratti tols Sky Sport Italia today:

“Stramaccioni has never been up for discussion. “He’s always made a lot of sacrifices for the team and he keeps on improving.”

Allegri on the otherhand has been linked with a possible summer move to Roma, but Galliani seems keen to keep a tight grip on the man who is contracted at the club until 2014.

“Allegri’s job was safe when we were losing, so it’s even safer now,” the official noted. “He was the main protagonist behind the win over Barcelona.”

There is no such thing as a meaningless Milan derby, and this one is no exception with only one point separating the two sides in the league with Milan in third plance and Inter in fifth. With only three champions League places up for grabs, the winner of this match will take a big step securing Champions League football next season and the financial windfall that brings with it.
