Serie A

Serie A Title Race

With six games left, the race the for the Scudetto looks to be over with Inter Milan comfortably in front by 10 points with six games to go. It would take a momentous collapse by Inter for Juventus to catch them. The race for 2nd place is where the real battle is, as AC Milan have closed the gap.

1. Inter (74 pts, 6 games remaining)
Inter Fixtures: Napoli A, Lazio H, Chievo A, Siena H, Cagliari A, Atalanta H
Requirements: To gain at least eight points, which would result in a season total of 82. This is the maximum that Juventus can manage, and Inter have a superior head to head record to Juve after the win in Milan and the draw in Turin. Inter can win the title in three games’ time, away at Chievo.

2. Juventus (64 pts, 6 games remaining)
Juventus Fixtures: Reggina A, Lecce H, Milan A, Atalanta H, Siena A, Lazio H
Requirements: To win 11 more points than Inter between now and the end of the season, due to an inferior head to head record. To also win one more point than Milan, or earn the same points as the Rossoneri while maintaining a superior head-to-head when the two teams meet at San Siro. Juve won 4-2 in Turin.

3. Milan (64 pts, 6 games remaining)
Milan Fixtures: Palermo H, Catania A, Juventus H, Udinese A, Roma H, Roma A
Requirements: To win 10 more points than Inter between now and the end of the season, due to a superior head to head record. To also win one more point than Juventus, or earn the same points as the Bianconeri while gaining a superior head-to-head when the two teams meet at San Siro. Juve won 4-2 in Turin.

The battle for second place will come down the meeting between AC Milan and Juventus in Milan. Whoever wins that match will get the second and the automatic Champions League spot. Juve is in a freefall at the moment, and I expect Milan to overtake them.
