Atletico Madrid have reportedly listed their leading goalscorer this season, Diego Forlan, in the transfer market.
According to Sport, Atletico Madrid is growing more and more concerned with their debts and are anxious to relieve any financial difficulties before it escalates into a full-blown crisis.
The in-form Uruguayan striker has scored 26 league goals so far this campaign, just one shy of Samuel Eto’o in the Pichichi race, and he has recently been linked with a move to Barcelona. He has a buy-out clause of €36 million and is currently valued at around €24 million.
It has long been suspected that Atleti would have to offload numerous key players, such as Sergio Aguero and captain Maxi Rodriguez, this coming summer in order to free up much needed funds to rebuild their squad, but this is the first time that the 29-year-old Forlan has been included to join the mass exodus.
