Is Alexis Sanchez Heading To Serie A?

Alexis Sanchez wants a Manchester United escape over the next fortnight in pursuit of first-team football.

The Chilean, who trained with the United squad on Wednesday, has made just four Premier League starts since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over last December.

Solskjaer insisted last week that he expects Sanchez to stay at Old Trafford but the 30-year-old has an eye on Italy before the European transfer window closes on September 2.

Sanchez’s agent, Fernando Felicevich, met with Juventus earlier in the summer, while Napoli and AC Milan also hold an interest.

The £73 million departure of Romelu Lukaku for Inter Milan has left Sanchez without his closest ally inside the dressing room and a Serie A return is seen as a strong potential destination for the former Udinese forward.

Solskjaer believes he is still three weeks away from full fitness after picking up a knock during the Copa America in Brazil.

Sanchez has an eye on next summer’s Copa America and wants to be sharp enough to lead Chile beyond this year’s semi-final finish.

He has scored three goals in 32 appearances since a move from Arsenal. Ex-United striker Robin van Persie claimed the drought is down to unhappiness.

“He needs to find a way to be happy again,’ Van Persie said.

‘If you are happy, you want to create and have fun. He had that in his first couple of months from what I saw and he needs to find that again.

‘He can still play, he is still a fantastic football player. He just doesn’t really look happy. I can only guess, but from distance, he looks unhappy and he needs to find a way to be happy again.’

Do you think Alexis Sanchez will still be a Manchester United player when the European transfer window closes?
