Philippe Coutinho Wants To Return To Premier League Says Agent

Philippe Coutinho “would love a return to the Premier League” one day, but his agent insists everything remains a possibility when it comes to the future of the Brazil midfielder.

Coutinho is currently on loan at Bayern Munich from Barcelona, although the German club are not expected to make the deal permanent despite him contributing nine goals in 32 matches prior to the suspension of the Bundesliga due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 27-year-old is relaxed about his future and has already attracted interest from the Premier League as his loan nears its end, with Chelsea, Everton and Arsenal among the clubs interested in the former Liverpool star.

Strong Accusations By Former Barcelona Ex-Vice President

Former Barcelona vice-president Emili Rousaud has issued some strong words in the wake of his resignation from the Camp Nou board, stating that he believes someone has been using club funds to line their own pockets.

Rousaud was one of six members of the Barca board to hand in their resignations on Thursday, with Enrique Tombas, Silvio Elias, Maria Teixidor, Josep Pont and Jordi Clasamiglia all announcing their decision to step down in a strongly-worded letter aimed at Josep Maria Bartomeu.

The directors called into the question the leadership of the club as it plans for life both during and after the coronavirus crisis, the economic impact of which will affect every football club across the globe.

Barcelona Continue To Tap Up Inter Milan Striker

Mercato Transfers Serie A

Nobody taps up a player via the media like Real Madrid and Barcelona. Whether it is a player publically commenting or a team friendly paper like Marca and Mundo Deportivo publishing stories, these two sides try to build momementum through the press where clubs fee pressured to sell them their best player.

Everyone from Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu to Lionel Messi have made it clear that they want Lautaro Martinez at the Camp Nou nxt season.

The latest voice to support the deal is Barcelona striker Luis Suarez who says he would have no qualms if Lautaro arrived from Inter.

FIFA About To Get Sued As They Unilaterally Extend Player Contracts

FIFA have announced contracts will be extended and transfer windows shift in line with the changing fixture list after the COVID-19 crisis. A decison that is sure to be met with lawsuits as FIFA does not have the power to unilaterally extend player contracts.

Nobody knows when the current season will resume, or even if it will resume, so FIFA have taken the step of guaranteeing some elements that were up for debate.

Specifically, that allows player contracts to be extended beyond June 30 to the natural end of the season, and moves the transfer windows to an appropriate time for the clubs and players in this new reality.

UEFA Draw Line In Sand When All Seasons Must End

UEFA

UEFA President Aleksandar Ceferin admits the idea of Champions League and Europa League play-offs are “an option,” but either way all leagues “must finish by August 3.”

All football has been suspended in Europe’s major leagues due to the coronavirus pandemic and it’s not clear when, or indeed if, the campaign will be concluded.

What we do now have is a deadline, set by Ceferin during an interview with German television station ZDF.

“It must finish by August 3, both the Champions and Europa League. It is an extraordinary situation we are in, so we are flexible on dates and kick-off times. If the crisis eases earlier, then we can start sooner.”

Barcelona Players Take 70 Per Cent Wage Cut

Barcelona and Lionel Messi have confirmed their first-team squad have accepted a wage cut of over 70% due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The statements confirm that the players accepting the cut will allow the club’s non-sporting staff – on significantly lower salaries – not to have any salary reduction enforced upon them.

The first statement came from Argentine star Messi on Monday morning on his Instagram account, claiming that the players would always act with the best interests of the club at heart – and took a thinly-veiled aim at sources within the club who had suggested this would not be the case.

Copa del Rey Final Is A Basque Derby

For the first time in more than a century, a Basque derby will decide the Copa del Rey.

Athletic Bilbao reached the Copa final for the fourth time in 12 years despite a 2-1 loss at Granada on Thursday, advancing on away goals after a 2-2 aggregate score to set up a title match against Basque Country rival Real Sociedad.

It will be the first time the two teams play for the Copa title since Athletic beat Sociedad in 1910 in the deciding match of a three-team mini-tournament.
