Arsenal To Sign Gonzalo Higuain For €22m

Real Madrid's Higuain celebrates goal against Athletic Bilbao during Spanish first division soccer match in BilbaoReports out of Spain say that Arsenal have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for striker Gonzalo Higuain. The transfer fee is said to be close to €22m and is conditional on Arsenal finishing in the top four this season.

Madrid announced last week that Huguain would be leaving at the end of the season, but the consensus then was that he was heading to Juventus.

The 25-year-old Higuain struggled to hold down a regular place in the Madrid line-up this season, with Mourinho switching back in forth between himself and Karim Benzema for the lone striker’s role. Still he managed to score 16 goals this season. In the last five seasons in Madrid, Higuain has scored 24, 29, 13, 26, 16 goals. The 13 goal season came when he played only 25 games due to a back injury

This is a big signing by Arsene Wenger. He get a top top player, a proven goalscorer and an experienced player. All for a terrific price.

I would expect that this will end Arsenal’s interest in Fiorentina striker Jovetic as I expect them to land David Villa also this summer, giving the Gunners one of the most potent attacking foursomes in the Premier League.
