Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists goalkeeper Pepe Reina will not leave the club at the end of the season.
The Spain international goalkeeper has played 29 times in the Premier League this season, registering 13 clean sheets in the process.
Rumours that the 30-year-old may be on the way out of Merseyside in the close-season have been around for months, with Barcelona thought to be interested in re-signing their former player.
However, speaking ahead of his side’s visit to Fulham on Saturday, Rodgers moved to quash speculation that his number one is set to leave Anfield.
“It’s that silly season now that starts up all the rumours and whatnot but Pepe’s not for sale,” Rodgers said.
“He’s got three years left on his contract here, he’s happy and obviously there’s speculation but it’s not worth commenting on.”
Sorry Brendan, but I am not buying it. Riena is one of Liverpool’s highest paid players, whose performance over the last couple of season’s have been deteriorating. Do you think he will suddenly get better in the last three years of his contract? Of course not. Which is why I think Liverpool will sell him this summer.
Barcelona are reportedly interested in having replace Victor Valdes, while Liverpool have been linked with Barcelona attacker Christian Tello. It would not surprise me to see the two clubs do a deal this summer and exchange Reina for Tello.
