2009/2010 SATO Serie A Predictions

League’s Biggest Baby

Ah yes, who this season will be awarded the cherished SATO Golden Pacifier Award?  Well unless you’re new to the site the answer should be rather easy.  David Beckham may not be a member of Serie A right now, but since the midfielder was in the league a year ago, he is eligible for the award.  And it is very likely that Becks will be back with Milan this upcoming year.  The club could use all the help they can get and Becks needs the exposure for a shot at the World Cup.  Sounds like the perfect marriage then.  We will have to wait and see what happens, but any league that could potentially allow Beckham back into it should be prepared with the Golden Pacifier.

Worst Club

New boys Bari are the winner for this unfortunate award.  We know that the club won Serie B last year, but the second tier championship will not save their season next year.  Bari has not played in Serie A in a few years and the transition to the elite league will likely leave the squad dazed and confused.  Bari is not a bad club just not yet ready for intense Serie A competition.

Most Disappointing Club

Genoa is our pick for most disappointing club, simply because they lost one of the best goal scorers in all of Serie A, Diego Milito.  Genoa was in great shape at last seasons end: fifth place finish, excellent defense, and one of the best offensive threats.  But now without Milito, the offense will likely struggle to perform (although the club did bring in Crespo).  Genoa is not a bad team; just not as good as they were a year ago.
