Players in Serie A are threatening to go on strike for the Serie A opener on August 29 unless the winter break is extended.
The winter break is scheduled to begin on December 22 and end on January 5th, but the players’ trade union, AIC, wants those dates extended. The players say the 20th does not give players enough time to travel home for the holidays, while ‘Kings Day’, which is celebrated in Spanish countries, and Orthodox Christmas, fall on January 6 and 7 respectively and so the players should not have to report back until January 9th.
