Jack Wilshere Injured Again

Jack-Wilshere-FACupArsenal midfielder is expected to miss at least the first two games of the Premier League season after injuring his ankle in training on Friday.

Arsenal sent Wilshere went for a scan on his right ankle on Monday after missing the weekend Community Shield victory over Chelsea and fears another lay-off.

“He couldn’t take part in the game because of an ankle problem he sustained yesterday, at the training ground” Arsene Wenger said on Sunday.

“We don’t think it’s bad at all, but I haven’t been told if it will be two days or five days.

“I don’t know how long he will not be available but it’s a matter of days.”

The Gunners are already resigned to Wilshere missing the first two games of their season, at home to West Ham on Sunday and away at Crystal Palace the following weekend. Whether Wilshere will be fit for the game against Liverpool on Aug. 24 is still a doubt.

The midfielder is also expected to miss England’s next two fixtures, in San Marino, on September 5 and the home tie with Switzerland at Wembley three days later.

But the fear is a player whose recent career has been plagued by ankle problems will be sidelined for longer. Wilshere missed a large chunk of last season with an ankle ligament injury to his other ankle, but he , sustained in a challenge with Manchester United defender Paddy McNair, although on that occasion it was on his left foot.

Remarkable, since breaking into the Arsenal first team in 2010-11 season, in the subsequent four seasons he has managed only 63 league appearances, less than 16 a season!
