Bad news for Liverpool fans in Canada as it appears that Steven Gerrard and the Reds’ other England internationals, Glen Johnson, Stewart Downing, Andy Carroll, Martin Kelly and Jordan Henderson, will miss the opening game of Liverpool’s North America tour against Toronto FC in Canada on July 21.
However, they will fly in to join up with their team-mates at the training camp in Boston two days later and could be involved in the games against Roma at Fenway Park on July 25 and against Tottenham in Baltimore on July 28.
Brendan Rodgers gave each Liverpool player who was involved at Euro 2012 four weeks off from the day their international commitments ended.
The final squad for the Reds’ tour has yet to be confirmed but Daniel Agger should travel as Denmark went out of the championships on June 17.
Having been part of the victorious Spain squad who beat Italy in the final on July 1, it’s unlikely that Pepe Reina will make the trip. Luis Suarez, Sebastian Coates and Craig Bellamy will be absent from the tour due to their involvement in the Olympics.
