Chelsea Sack Thomas Tuchel

Thomas Tuchel Chelsea

New ownership of Chelsea, but still the same ruthless approach to firing underperforming managers as new Chelsea owner has sacked Thomas Tuchel following their 1-0 Champions League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

Boehly only bought Chelsea from Roman Abramovich 100 days ago, but he continued the Russian’s approach to managers, as Tuchel last just seven games into the season.

Chelsea have had a stumbling start to their Premier League campaign where they are currently sixth, and were stunned last night losing 1-0 in Croatia.

In a statement Chelsea wrote:

‘On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the Club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club.

‘As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the Club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition.’

According to reports, Chelsea have been given permission to speak to Brighton boss Graham Potter, their No 1 target, while out-of-work Mauricio Pochettino is also said to be under consideration. Pochettino’s previous experience at Tottenham Hotspur would make him a difficult choice for the Chelsea fans to accept.

Tuchel was in charge of Chelsea for 100 games, in which he guided them to UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup glory.Last season Chelsea reached the Carabao Cup and FA Cup finals, only to lose to Liverpool on both occasions. They also finished third in the Premier League.

It’s been a tough summer for Tuchel, as Chelsea got a very late start on their summer transfer activity due to the sale of the club. They spent a Premier League record £250million summer spend.
