Perez: Gareth Bale Can Be Decisive For Real Madrid This Season

gareth bale

In a statement that illustrates how large the divide is at the Bernabéu between president and manager, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has hailed Gareth Bale’s influence at the club for the 2019-20 La Liga season.

The Welsh international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Spanish capital in recent weeks, with manager Zinedine Zidane simply not rating him. Zidane froze Bale out at the end of last season, excluding the winger from the squad altogether for two of the last three games and leaving him on the bench on the last day of the season as Madrid lost to Betis.

Most Valuable Players In World Football

The Football Observatory has updated their list of the most valuable players in the world and it has a very English flavor to it, with seven of the top 10 players either being English or they play in the Premier League.

That is a huge turnaround from even three years ago, when the list was dominated by La Liga stars.

The three most valuable players are all forwards: Kylian Mbappé (€252M), Mohammed Salah (€219M) and Raheem Sterling (€208M).

La Liga Preview- The Title Contenders

La Liga Logo

La Liga has made a lot of headlines this summer, and many for the wrong reason. The main talking points have been Atletico Madrid and Barcelona’s legal dispute over Antoine Griezmann’s transfer, Eden Hazard’s eventual move to Real Madrid, Nabil Fekir’s shock decision to join Real Betis and Valencia managing to keep hold of their boss Marcelino Garcia Toral after a turbulent summer.

Despite the transfer window remaining open, the focus now switches back to the football and it promises to be one of the most intriguing seasons in recent years.

Will Zidane Zidane Still Be Real Madrid Manager At Christmas?

When Zinedine Zidane took over Real Madrid in March last season he had 11 games left to lift the club and lay the foundations for this coming campaign.

He was unable to do so. There were five wins, two draws and four defeats, and never any clear sign of the direction he wanted to take.

His record was worse than his predecessor Santiago Solari, who during 17 games in charge, won 12, drew one, and lost four.

This pre-season Zidane has taken charge of seven matches and Madrid have finished the summer with a worse ‘points’ ratio tally than any of the 20 clubs set to kick-off the new La Liga season this weekend.

There appeared to have been a breakthrough over the weekend, however, with Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning interested in signing the winger.

But Real Madrid reportedly pulled the plug on the move and now Bale looks likely to stay in Spain.

Gareth Bale’s proposed move to China is off with Real Madrid cancelling his switch to the Far East, although there reports that Bale’s family are not in favor of a move to China, despite the eye-watering sum that he would be paid, and they have asked the forward’s representatives to look for alternatives in Europe.

Despite those misgivings, the forward seemed to be on his way to Chinese Super League side to Jiangsu Suning before the decision by the Spanish giants on Sunday afternoon.
