Arsenal Stunned By Blackburn

Ayegbeni Yakubu scored twice on his Blackburn Rovers debut as Steve Kean’s team shocked Arsenal 4-3 to win their first league match of the season.

Arsenal have now won just 1 of their last 11 away league games and have conceded 12 goals on their last two Premier League away games.

But the Gunners should have wrapped this match up in the first half when they twice held one goal leads as Gervinho and Mikel Arteta scored their first goals for the Gunners.

But in the second half the Gunners defense capitulated scoring two own goals as they could not deal with any Blackburn set-piece.

First Alex Song put into his own net from RubĂ©n Rochina’s free-kick to make it 2-2 and then Yakubu scored after Arsenal failed to clear a corner. When Laurent Koscielny scored the Gunner’s second own goal Arsenal’s capitulation was complete.

The pressure is really getting turned up on Arsene Wenger with the Gunners lying just above the relegation zone after five games, alien territory for Arsene Wenger and Arsenal fans.

Can Arsene Wenger turn the Gunners season around or will the unthinkable happen and will the Arsenal board fire him?

It was a good day for the three promoted clubs, with Swansea City (3-0 versus West Brom), Norwich City (2-1 at Bolton) and QPR (3-0 against Wolves) all winning.

Aston Villa and Newcastle United remain unbeaten after the teams drew 1-1, while Everton overcame Wigan Athletic 3-1.

Manchester United host Chelsea and Fulham FC play Man City in two of four fixtures on Sunday.
