Arsenal are said to be not amused at Juventus’s £30 million bid for striker Alexis Sanchez. Arsene Wenger signed Sanchez from Barcelona for the same fee two seasons ago and since then he has scored 42 goals in 93 appearances for the Gunners over the last two seasons.
Sanchez has also enjoyed success with his national team in recent years and was an integral part of the Chile side that secured a second successive Copa America triumph in June.
With Chelsea spending £30 million to sign Michy Batshuayi recently, and a lack of top strikers for sale this summer, Sanchez has to be worth a least double what Juventus offered.
According to Italian publication Calcio Mercato though Sanchez wants a move away from north London and his agent Fernando Felicevich has told Arsenal of the 27-year-old’s desire to leave.
Sanchez is understood to want to return to Italy having spent five years at Udinese before his move to Barcelona, which explains the recent stories linking the Chile star with the Serie A champions.
If, and that is still a big if, Arsenal decide to sell Alexis, that transfer fee would immediately be used to buy his replacement as Arsenal have been linked with Lyon’s 25-year-old striker Alexandre Lacazette and Wolfsburg’s German international Julian Draxler in recent weeks.
Arsene Wenger really likes Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, but so West Ham, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid, and Lyon is hoping the interest will drive the price up above £34 million and closer to £40 million.
Arsenal have made a £43 million bid for winger Julian Draxler, according to the Sun. Arsenal were interested in Draxler last summer while he was at Schalke, before the 22-year-old signed a five-year deal with Wolfsburg. The German international is back on the Gunners radar thanks to his strong season and good performances at Euro 2016.
Do you think Arsenal will sell Sanchez? Are Lacazette and Draxler good replacements, or should the Gunners be focusing on buying a center half and central midfielder?
