Transfer Round-up: Bridge, Bentley and Ronaldinho

The transfer window in Europe is in full-swing and these are some of the major deals that have been completed across Europe today.

Premier League
Birmingham City have taking David Bentley on loan from Tottenham Hotspur for the rest of the season. The 26-year-old, who has seven caps for England, has made just two Premier League appearances this term. “He’s a classy footballer and will enhance the quality of the squad,” said manager Alex McLeish.

West Ham United have strengthened their defense as they have added defender Wayne Bridge on loan from Manchester City for the rest of the year.

Spain
Athletico Madrid have signed Juanfran from Osasuna for around €4m. Juanfran replaces Simao in the Madrid side who signed for Besiktas earlier this month.

Italy
After two and a half years at AC Milan, 2005 FIFA Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldinho is returning to Brazil after signing a contract until 2014 with Flamengo. The 30-year-old forward, who joined the Rossoneri from FC Barcelona in 2008, was no longer a regular under coach Massimiliano Allegri, and said: “I came back to Brazil to play for Flamengo, and I hope to be part of the national team again.” Milan team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimović added: “I’m sorry Ronnie is no longer with us. I think he’s one of the greatest players of all time; it was an honour to play with him.”
