Is Steven Gerrard Heading To New York Next Season?

Stevie-GerrardAccording to a report in the Daily Mirror, England and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has been has added to the ‘discovery list’ of the New York Red Bulls, meaning that they will have first option on signing him if he moves to Major League Soccer.

Gerrard has been at the centre of much speculation about his future, as Brendan Rodgers has opted to leave him out of the Reds’ starting eleven in numerous occasions this season.

The Red Bulls have lost stars Thierry Henry and with the upstart New York City FC creating a big splash with the signings of David Villa and Frank Lampard, the Red Bulls need a big name or two to stay relevant in the New York market.

The Red Bull’s will be hoping to take advantage of Gerrard’s strong relationship with former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier, who is now the sporting director of the Red Bulls.

Hard to see Gerrard leaving for the US as I think he wants to captain England in the 2016 Euros. But if the Reds season implodes, who knows.

What do you think of the possibility of Steven Gerrard coming to MLS and the Red Bulls?
