Ince Fired From Blackburn

Former Manchester United and England star Paul Ince was fired by Blackburn yesterday after a dismal start to the season that has seen Blackburn win only three games and they currently lie second bottom of the Premier League.

With the transfer window looming, Blackburn wanted to get their new boss in place so that they could tweak the team in January. Blackburn is a small market team, and dropping down to the Championship is something that their board of directors could not contemplate.

Ince was not helped by the board who sold his two best players, Bentley and Friedel, before the season and did not replace them (Paul Robison is a poor replacement for Friedel). But ultimately, Ince’s performance came down to results and in a year where mediocrity reigns in the Premier League, Blackburn were simply not good enough.
