According to Chelsea In America, the official Chelsea supporters group in the United States, Chelsea will conduct part of its preseason training in the U.S. this summer with friendlies in Seattle, Washington DC and New York.
No dates have been confirmed, but the tour dates are expected to be mid- to late-July. In addition to Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur will also be playing friendlies in the United States this summer. So far we know that Liverpool will play one game in Boston at Fenway park against Roma, while Spurs will play the Red Bulls in NY.
With the Euros taking place this summer (June 8-July 1) as well as the Olympics (July 26-August 12), it is too early to tell what Chelsea players will be coming to America, as well as who the manager will be.
Still I would expect to see all of Chelsea’s African and Latin player, so Michael Essien, David Luiz and possible Fernando Torres if he does not make the Spain Euros squad. In addition we should see some of Chelsea’s bright young stars like Josh McEachran and Romelu Lukaku.
When we get more details of the tour, as well as opponents and ticket information we will update the site.
If you live in the Seattle, DC or New York areas, what are your thoughts about Chelsea playing this summer? Will you be planning on buying tickets? Share your feedback in the comments section below.
