Andres Iniesta Expected To Be Fit For Spanish Opener

Spain arrived in South Africa today with good news. Influential midfielder Andres Iniesta has only a “minor muscle injury” and is expected to be fit for Spain’s opening game against Switzerland on June 16.

Iniesta limped off after only 39 minutes in Spain’s last warm-up game against Poland against Tuesday and there were fears that he had reaggravated a thigh injury that had cost him to miss much of Barcelona’s season.

Iniesta is the only injury worry for the defending European Champions and pre-tournament favorites. The other two injury doubts Cesc Fabregas and Fernando Torres, both came on as substitutes against Poland and are fit for the start of the .

Spain’s opponents in Group H are Switzerland, Honduras and Chile, and they are expected to easily win this group.
