An unexpected bonus for US soccer fans as the World Champions Argentina will play two friendlies in the US in March.
Lionel Messia and the lbiceleste were originally scheduled to be in China, playing Ivory Coast and Nigeria. But the games were canceled amid an uproar over Messi not playing in an Inter Miami exhibition game in Hong Kong earlier this month.
As a result Argentina will now play El Salvador game at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on March 22 on then face Nigeria at the Los Angeles Coliseum on March 26. Both games are expected to be sellouts.
These will not be the only two friendlies that Argentina plays in the US this summer. Ahead of this summer’s Copa America, Argentina will visit Chicago’s Soldier Field and FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland before their tournament opener on June 20 in Atlanta.

Argentina Copa America Draw
It was a dream Copa American draw for Argentina as they will play Peru, Chile, and the playoff Winner of Canada vs. Trinidad and Tobago.
Peru — just one goal in six World Cup qualifiers — look by far the weakest of the teams in pot two, and Chile have proved utterly unable to replace the generation that won the previous enlarged version of the Copa in 2016. If Canada make it through it will be interesting to see how they have progressed since showing some interesting moments in the Qatar World Cup.
True, Argentina learned the hard way against Saudi Arabia last year that nothing can be taken for granted in tournament football, but this group looks set up for them.
X FACTOR: End of an Argentine era?
For some, this Copa is a stepping stone on the way towards the 2026 World Cup. The current vibe coming out of Argentina is that the tournament might well mark the end of a glorious era. Ángel Di María has already announced that this will be his international farewell. That could also apply to Lionel Messi, and coach Lionel Scaloni has hinted about stepping down. Catch them while you can!
PREDICTED FINISH: Argentina, Chile, Canada, Per
