PSG To Sign Dortmund Striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

According to Yahoo Sport France, striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will leave Borussia Dortmund and join Paris Saint-Germain in a £61 million deal this summer.

The Bundesliga’s top goalscorer last season has reportedly agreed a contract that will pay him a whopping £5.25m signing-on fee plus a wage package of £168,000 a week.

PSG have been linked with a move for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez for months, but the fact that they landed Aubameyang, will intensify reports that Sanchez is heading to Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

PSG this season struggled to fill the void left by the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimović to Manchester United.

Bundesliga Weekend Preview

Köln - LeverkusenA look at the games in the Bundesliga this weekend:

Werder Bremen v Hannover 96
Bremen manager Thomas Schaaf needs three points in thisderby if his lofty talk of targeting Europe is to come true. Captain Clemens Fritz, who is suspended, along with striker Marko Arnautovic, thinks avoiding a relegation battle might be a more realistic aim for the 12th-placed team. There’s talk of yet another system change; Schaaf has experimented with a 4-4-2 in training. Will that bring more solidity? It’s doubtful. Hannover (10th), who have looked refreshed after the winter break and held off Wolfsburg with ten man last week, will be without quite a few regular defenders but can bring back midfield enforcer Sergio Pinto. The visitors will play on the counter and hope to catch out Werder’s notoriously poor defence.

Another Coach Turns Down Abramovich’s Offer

Borussia Dortmund’s Jurgen klopp has ruled out the possibility of joining Chelsea in the summer. The 48 year old German tactician stressed that despite being linked with a move to the London club, he has no intentions of leaving Dortmund any time soon.

“I can turn them down straight away.I will not be moving there. But I do think it is cool that I am being named in the same breath as Mourinho and Guardiola. That is enough for me – that is already a personal triumph, but I am not available, sorry.” he said during an interview with Sky television.

Borussia Dortmund Sign Rising Starlet Marco Reus

So after weeks of uncertainty over Marco Reus’s future, Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund were finally able to land the services of the highly rated attacking midfielder.

Dortmund beat out the likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich who were the two clubs closely associated with the 22 year old. Though many Bayern team members have expressed their disappointment at the club for not signing Reus, one player is breathing a heavy sigh of relief.

Bastian Schweinsteiger is on the record as not wanting Reus to join Bayern as he feels that he is not quite ready to feature in the team. The truth is, Reus would be a direct competitor for Schweinsteiger’s starting position a thing the aging midfielder is not too keen about.

Van Persie Scores A brace To Take Arsenal To The Knockout Stage

Arsenal booked their place in the knock out stages with a 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund at the Emirates stadium. Once again Robin Van Persie was the hero for the Gunners as they secured their qualification to the knock out stage for the 12 consecutive season.

I must admit that it was a fine performance from Arsenal. The Gunners next face a tricky away fixture to Olympiacos who were surprise 1-0 winners over Marseille at the Stade Velodrome.

Arsenal midfielder Alex Song who had a 5 star performance for the Gunners, stated what a pleasure it was to play alongside Van Persie.

Barca Secure Top Spot In Group H With Win At The San Siro

So after a much awaited night of footballing action, i have to say i am very disappointed. Disappointed because not only did Milan lose (which i was not expecting), but also because of other shocking results across the continent.

Before i get into the Chelsea game, i just want to give my 2 cents worth on the Milan v Barcelona tie. In my opinion this was arguably the biggest game of the season so far and though it did not fail to excite, it also did not live up to its billings.

Bundesliga Ref Attempts Suicide

Before i get into the main story of this post, focus must be drawn to the most unexpected result of the weekend. Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich suffered a shock 1-0 home loss to second place Borussia Dortmund yesterday.

The loss means that Bayern’s 2 closest challengers for the Bundesliga crown Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mochengladbach remain only 2 points behind them in the title chase. Now, many Bayern fans were not expecting an easy match, but they were not also expecting to lose in front of their fans.

Real Madrid Back On Top Of Richest Club List

Real Madrid has once again regained the top spot the Deloitte Football Money League, but that is only because of the continuing decline of the pound against the euro.

The Deloitte Football Money League list is based on clubs’ revenue excluding transfer fees

Dan Jones, partner in the sports business group at Deloitte, said:

“All the English clubs were impacted by the continuing depreciation of the pound against the euro and the scale of this is shown by the fact that if exchange rates remained at their June 2007 level, United would be top of the money league table.”
