Monaco Renege On Victor Valdes Contract Offer

Victor-Valdes-BarcelonaMonaco have taken back a contract offer to former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes after he failed a medical at the club.

Valdes was expected to join the Ligue 1 outfit this summer after leaving Barcelona upon the end of his contract, but Mundo Deportivo has reported Vadim Vasilyev as telling a Press conference that the deal has been scrapped due to the knee injury the goalkeeper suffered in March.

“Valdes is injured and cannot come,” Vasilyev said.

The 32-year-old remains a free agent and must now convince a new club of his fitness to play.

Valdes made 535 appearances for Barcelona, winning six La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues. He was part of Spain’s triumphant 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012 squads and has won 20 caps for his country.

Returning to Barca is not an option has they have replaced him with the highly-rated German Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and Chile’s World Cup goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.
