Iker Casillas: I Might Have To Leave Real Madrid In January

iker-casillasReal Madrid and Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas has says that he may have to leave Real Madrid in January if he wants to play in next summer’s World Cup.

The Real Madrid captain has spent his entire career at the Santiago Bernabeu, but he finds himself behind Diego Lopez from the Madrid starting XI and his position in the Spain lineup is under pressure from Barcelona’s Victor Valdez.

“Of course I want to play, but you have to respect the Coach. These are his decisions,” Casillas has reflected to reporters on Thurday.

“The selfish players always want to play, but a good professional accepts things. I’d like to stay at Real Madrid because it is what I have dreamed of since childhood.

“What I must to is train as much as I can in order to play.

“Players go through times when if they are not a protagonist, many options run through their head. I’m human, I’m only a footballer. I’ve not played for nine months and it has also happened with me. I’m not a machine.

“Of course I want to stay here, win more titles with Real Madrid. Since my childhood I have wanted to be here, but one day I may have to take a decision.

“Today my goal is to fight, to try and play every day. If I didn’t want to, I would have gone to the President in September asking to leave, regardless of anything at Christmas. But I have decided I want to be a part of this team for a long time.

“But within three months if the situation doesn’t change and I am asked the same question, maybe the answer is that I am considering leaving.”

If Casillas does leave Real Madrid in January he will not be short of destinations as most of the biggest clubs in the world will line up to sign him.
