2009/2010 LLTO La Liga Preview

Barcelona is our pick for the projected winner of La Liga this upcoming year.  And why not?  The club is the first Spanish team to ever win the treble.  Barcelona is coming off the best year in La Liga history winning every valuable trophy they desired and winning the league title with a month still left in the season’s schedule.  Will it be as easy this season?  Most likely not, but with the addition of Zlatan Ibrahimovic the club didn’t exactly get any worse either.  Ibs knows all about championship football too.  The Swedish forward has won six titles during his Serie A career.

Best Offense

With all the additions that Real Madrid has added in the last few months it sounds more like a fantasy football squad then a real squad, but Florentino Perez has shelled out the big monopoly money and landed the players to help turn things around in Madrid.  Many would say that with these additions they have become the best, but not until they get on the pitch and play as a team.  But with Ronaldo, Benzema, Xabi Alonso, Raul, Van Nistelrooy, Schneider, as well as many more players as likely candidates for time on the field it is hard to think of another team (other then Barca) who can compete with this firepower.

They are always under the radar, but Sevilla is our pick for best defensive squad.  The club is one of only two (Barca is the other) to allow less then 40 goals into the net in three of the last four seasons.  Sevilla is always a top five finisher and their offense is usually pretty mediocre.  That means their defense keeps them in close matches.
