Marquez to miss USA v Mexico Game

FC and defender Rafael Marquez has a torn muscle in his left calf and will be out for about 15 days, meaning the anchor of Mexico’s defense is likely to miss the huge qualifier against the next week.

Marquez suffered the injury during light training on Wednesday before Barcelona’s exhibition match with the Seattle Sounders.

This is a big blow for Mexico who are currently fourth in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying, four points behind the second-place U.S. Costa Rica leads the group with 12 points.

The U.S. has never won at Mexico’s Azteca Stadium, but their is a growing belief that next week the U.S. will make history and get the three points, seriously denting Mexico’s World Cup dreams.
