PSG Confirm Interest In Ronaldo And Mourinho

ronaldo-mourinhoThere have been rumours for it for a while now, that Cristiano Ronaldo and José Mourinho would be heading to Paris Saint Germanin this summer. And in an interview in Marca,
Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Paris Saint Germain owner Sheikh Nasser Al Khelaifi’s right-hand man, confirmed the French club’s interest in signing the Portuguese duo.

“Of course”, Saoud Bin Abdulrahman answered word-for-word during an interview to Canal + France when he was asked, also word-for-word if Cristiano Ronaldo and José Mourinho were future transfer targets for the Paris club. “You have to be motivated in the world of sport and do what’s best for your club, make the right investments at the right time”.

Saoud Bin Abdulrahman stated that right now Ibrahimovic is the club’s most important player (“He’s our leader”) and that results at the Paris club will improve season upon season:

“Paris Saint Germain is one of the best clubs in the world, I’m sure. From the start, our goal has been to win the Champions League. I don’t think it’s difficult, we’re one of the best clubs in France and we hope to become the best club in Europe and even the world”.

Reports out of France and Spain claim that PSG wil offer Real Madrid €100m for Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, making Mourinho’s arrival at the club almost a done deal.

Not sure how good the chemistry will be in that PSG dressing room as Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic like being the focus on the team. But if Mourinho can find a way to keep all the egos in check, something he struggled with at Real Madrid, then PSG will have a side that can compete with anyone in Europe.

But if PSG do sign Ronaldo what will that say about Uefa’s Financial Fair Play Rules? With France’s new 75% tax rate, to pay Ronaldo even the €10m net wages that he currently earns at Madrid, PSG would have to spend an amazing €40m. Yes FORTY MILLION EUROS in wages on one player. Would French football legend, and Uefa President Michel Platini have the testicular fortitude to ban the biggest club in France from the Champions League? I don’t think so. And ultimately that will be the downfall of FFP.

What do you think about Ronaldo and Mourinho going to PSG?
