Is Liverpool Preparing To Sell Its Best Players For The Third Summer Running?

coutinho-newAccording to the reports from England and France, Paris Saint Germain have contacted Philippe Coutinho’s representatives to express their interest in signing the Brazilian this summer. Le 10 Sport in France is reporting that Coutinho, reacted “positively” when a possible move was floated with him and that PSG are preparing a £46 million offer for the midfielder.

Paul Joyce of the Express has added to this report saying that two other unnamed European sides also have an interest in signing the Liverpool No.10.

Coutinho is currently away with the Brazil squad preparing for the imminent start of the Copa America, and recently impressed in his side’s 2-0 win friendly win over Panama.

A £46m transfer fee would generate a huge profit for Liverpool who paid £8.5m for the No.10 when they signed him from Inter Milan just over 3 years ago.

Coutinho has developed into one of Jurgen Klopp’s best players as finished with his best goals return since his move to Merseyside and won Player of the Year for the second season running.

For Liverpool to progress next season and make a return to the Champions League stage, they must keep hold of key players such as Coutinho, with replacing a player of his talents sure to be a tough task.

The Coutinho situation will tell us a lot about Fenway Sports Group and their ambitions. Are they a selling club, looking to flip Coutinho for a huge profit as they have done with Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling the last two seasons? Or arr they serious about building a team that can once again compete with the best in England and Europe?
