Champions League Review: Bayern Thrash Olympiakos While Barca Hammer Roma

suarez-neymar-messiBayern Munich blitzed Olympiakos with three goals in the first 20 minutes to seal qualification – and keep Arsenal in the hunt.

Douglas Costa opened the floodgates in the eighth minute with a rocket shot before Robert Lewandowski’s 5th goal of the campaign – his 20th in all competitions – doubled Bayern’s lead. Four minutes later Arjen Robben set up Thomas Muller who made no mistake to put the result beyond doubt.

Bayern defender Holger Badstuber was sent off early in the second half but it did not stop the German champions, and Kingsley Coman added a fourth with 20 minutes to go to make it 4-0.

Arsenal’s romped to a 3-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb with a brace from Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil’s diving header. To reach the knockout stages Arsenal need to win by two clear goals in Greece against Olympiakos. Any other result sees them enter the Europa League.

In group G Chelsea won 4-0 on Israel, but qualification to the knockout stages is nit assured yet because Dynamo Kiev beat Poerto 2-0. That results means Chelsea need to beat Porto in matchday six to guarantee qualification for the next stage.
In group H Zenit St Petersburg made it five wins out of five with a 2-0 victory over Valencia, who will now scrap it out with Gent for the second qualification slot.

Luis Suarez and Leo Messi both scored twice as group E leaders Barcelona routed Roma 6-1.

The second last-16 spot is still up for grabs with Roma still in the mix with Bate Borisov and Leverkuson and, who drew 1-1 in Belarus.
