Italy Euro 2020 Tickets

Italy have been drawn Turkey, Wales and Switzerland in the Euro 2020 group stage. The Azzurri previously faced Turkey at Euro 2000, beating them 2-1 with goals from Antonio Conte and Simone Inzaghi.

Italy have never before faced Switzerland or Wales at a Euros, although they have lost just nine of their 66 meetings with the two countries.

They will open the tournament against Turkey in Rome on June 12 and have the advantage of playing all their group games at the Olimpico.

Roberto Mancini’s side host Switzerland on June 17 in their second match, before welcoming Wales four days later.

AC Milan ‘Want To Bring Carlo Ancelotti Back To San Siro’

AC Milan are lining up a sensational return for former boss Carlo Ancelotti, according to reports in Italy.

Ancelotti’s future as Napoli manager is up in the air following a team mutiny against club owner Aurelio De Laurentiis.

The turbulent period at the San Paolo Stadium came after a poor run of results which led to the controversial chairman organising a training camp – something which was rejected by players and the coaching staff.

Reports in Italy are suggesting that Ancelotti has just two games to save his job considering Napoli have not won a league game since mid October.

Milan Ultras Furious With Pioli Hiring

AC Milan Fans

Milan ultras released a statement calling the club “weak and failing yet again to achieve the target it really wanted” after replacing Marco Giampaolo with Stefano Pioli.

Giampaolo was axed this week after just seven games and 111 days in charge, a new club record.

Fans are already furious at the introduction of the ninth different Coach since Max Allegri was sacked in January 2014.

“Time’s up… you have to prove yourselves!” read a statement from the Curva Sud ultras.

“This was the banner we laid out in the stands on Saturday during the Genoa game, representing a population of Milanisti exhausted by the continual embarrassment of this club.

Stefano Pioli AC Milan Manager

AC Milan have confirmed the appointment of former Inter Milan boss Stefano Pioli as their new manager. The 53-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Serie A side to replace the sacked Marco Giampaolo.

Giampaolo paid the price for Milan’s dreadful start to the season and was dismissed earlier this week after just seven games in charge. It is the shortest reign in the club’s history.

Giampaolo was axed after former president Silvio Berlusconi told Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban they’d made a mistake in hiring the coach.

Inter Continue Domination Of Milan Derby

Romelu Lukaku’s second half header stretched Inter Milan’s perfect start to the Serie A season to four games as they took the derby spoils against AC Milan.

Lukaku headed home a cross from Nicolo Barella in the 78th minute to add to Marcelo Brozovic’s deflected opener.

Lautaro Martinez also had an effort ruled out after a VAR review as Antonio Conte’s side proved good value for a win which takes them back to the top of the table.

Despite their strong domestic start, Inter went into the game under a degree of pressure after needing a late Barella strike to salvage a Champions League draw at home to Slavia Prague in midweek.

AC Milan Kicked Out Of Europa League

AC Milan Trophies

Serie A giants AC Milan will not play in Europe this season, despite finishing fifth in Serie A last season, which qualified them to enter the Europa League at the group stages.

However, the club, which has announced losses of £126million for the 2017-18 campaign, have fallen foul of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.

As a result Milan and its owners Elliot Management, have essentially swapped Financial Fair Play breaches for a season out of European competition.

A ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport confirmed the decision. In it, it said:

Gazidis: AC Milan To Go With Youth

Ivan Gazidis has asserted that the days of AC Milan splashing out on big names are over. “There have already been enough illusions and lies.”

Elliott Management took control of Milan last summer after Li Yonghong defaulted on the loan he borrowed from the hedge fund to buy the club, with Gazidis brought in as CEO shortly after.

“Elliott’s vision is clear: to take away the financial burden from Milan and put them back in the right direction, letting them grow and making them a modern club,” he continued to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Icardi Slammed By Inter Milan Ultras Again

Mauro Icardi

It’s been a tumultuous ride for Mauro Icardi and Inter Milan over the last few months, and there doesn’t seem to be an end to the drama in sight for the controversial striker.

Amid a dispute with management, Icardi has now come under fire from the Inter ‘ultras.’

In a statement following Inter’s 1-1 draw with Roma on Sunday (via Calcio Mercato) the hardcore fans had some choice words for the Argentine.

Not even calling him by his name, instead referring to him as ‘that little man,’ and ‘the No 9,’ the statement says that he has shown no respect, and insinuates he should leave the club.

Internal War At AC Milan Over Mesut Ozil

Mesut Ozil is causing problems within the AC Milan hierarchy with Paolo Maldini and Ivan Gazidis said to be at loggerheads over a deal for the Arsenal midfielder.

The frustrating German has fallen out of favour under Unai Emery and is getting ever closer to leaving the Emirates Stadium. He has not started any of Arsenal’s last four games, although for two of them he has been recovering from a knee injury.

With Ozil’s future seemingly away from north London, Milan are considering a move for him but the power brokers at the San Siro are reportedly struggling to agree on a deal.
