Another Soccer Channel in the U.S.

It seems that Fox will be launching a second all-soccer network in the United States on March 1. The new network, called Fox Soccer Plus, will televise matches of the Champions League, Premier League, the FA Cup and the Italian Serie A and will make its debut on HD on March 1.

Fox has said for over a year that it was launching an HD soccer channel and I thought that would be FSC. But is appears that FSC will become the home for MLS and WPS.

“We are committed to bringing the best world-class soccer experience to fans.” said David Nathanson, the general manager and executive VP of Fox Soccer Channel. “As America’s interest in the world’s game is increasing, the launch of Fox Soccer Plus will complement and enhance our current programming on Fox Soccer Channel. Fox Soccer Plus builds on our position as the preferred television destination for American soccer fans as well as expatriates who want to keep in touch with their home teams.”

From press reports it appears that Fox is taking back some games that it had previously sub-licensed to Setanta Sports USA, which I think means no more Premier League games on ESPN or ESPN 2.,
