United Send Over Second Bid for Dimitar Berbatov

Sir Alex and Manchester United are determined to land elite striker Dimitar Berbatov.  The Red Devils are desperate to bring in an attacking option as the club looks to defend its Premiership and UEFA Champions League crowns.  Luckily for United, the relationship between Berbatov and Spurs’ manager Juande Ramos is severely strained following the Bulgarian international’s recent antics.  Only his teammates know what effect his constant transfer requests have had on the locker room.  Berbatov, who has been hankering for a move out of London for several weeks, was also photographed autographing a Manchester United shirt in his home country.

Ramos retaliated by not playing Berbatov against Sunderland this past weekend.  The Spurs manager even kept Dimitar off of the squad for the match.  He also stated that Berbatov is not focused enough to compete with his teammates.

Manchester United originally offered £19m which Spurs quickly rejected preferring to ask for £30m.  United have countered at a reported £25m.  If United is unable to reach an agreement with Tottenham, it may be too late to acquire another top-level forward for the 2008-2009 campaign.

Will United sign Dimitar Berbatov before the transfer window closes next week or will Sir Alex head into the fall schedule without his preferred striker?
