Napoli Threaten Uruguay Over Cavani

There is a huge club v country brawl brewing at the Copa America’s as Napoli president Antonio De Laurentiis has warned Uruguay he is prepared to take strong action if they risk the health of Edinson Cavani.

Cavaini, who picked up a knee injury in the group stages, has seen his Uruguay side reach the finals of this year’s Copa America and reports in Uruguay say that they are considering bringing him back into the side for Sunday’s final against Paraguay.

Cavani, who joined Napoli from Palermo last summer, scored 33 goals in all competitions last season, is critical to the success of Napoli this season and De Laurentiis is desperate to ensure that his star player avoids sustaining a serious injury ahead of the Serie A season.

“I’ll kill them if they’ve broken my Edinson,” De Laurentiis said. “I don’t really care about international competitions, but I just ask Uruguay to take good care of him. If he’s not fit then he shouldn’t play. Uruguay better be careful otherwise I will bring a never ending case against them.”
