Napoli Boss Wants Cavani To Stay

cavani-273x300Wrote a story yesterday about how PSG and Man City were getting ready to battle it out for the signing of Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.

Today, Napoli chief Aurelio De Lauerentiis responded to those rumours saying that just because has Edinson Cavani has a buyout clause in his contract that a transfer is inevitable.

The Uruguayan international signed a new contract in the summer, but that deal included a €63m release fee.

“The last thing on my mind is depriving myself of Cavani,” the Stadio San Paolo chief commented today.

“I like him as a player and as a man. He’s always there for us, always present, you can count on him 100 per cent.

“I can’t do anything about the rescission clause from a legal perspective. But I can do everything possible to convince the player to stay. After all, he would have to accept any transfer.

“And, anyway, who will give me that amount? In the summer I refused €55m, Real Madrid can’t get to €50m.

“And to pay the €63m in the clause it would actually take around €70m…”
