Manchester United Equal Champions League Record

It wasn’t pretty but Champions League holders were given a scare at home to AaB Aalborg as Sir Alex Ferguson’s side did just enough to stretch their unbeaten record in the competition to 19 games.

Danish side Aalborg threatened to pull off a shock result at Old Trafford before reigning champions United came back to draw 2-2 and take top spot in Group E thanks to a second half goal from Wayne Rooney.
Up at Parkhead, Celtic finally won in the Champions League with a 2-0 win over Villarreal through goals from Shaun Maloney and Aiden McGeady.

In Portugal, Arsenal’s reserves lost 2-0 to Porto via goals from Bruno Alves and Lisandro Lopez. The loss helped Porto win the group and dropped Arsenal to 2nd place.

Claudio Ranieri’s Juventus took top spot in Group H after a draw at home to BATE Borisov even though Real Madrid won against Zenit. In Juande Ramos’ first match in charge, Real Madrid ran out a surprisingly easy 3-0 victory.

In the only game that really mattered, Bayern Munich finished first in Group F with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Lyon. With the loss Lyon, finished second in the group.
