Ibrahimovic agrees Barcelona terms

Barcelona have reached an agreement in principle with Internazionale’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the striker to sign for the European champions.

“There are agreements in principle with the player and with Inter and the documents are being drawn up,” Barcelona’s sporting directo Begiristain told Barca TV.

He added that only a few details remained to be ironed out and Sweden international Ibrahimovic could be presented as a Barcelona player as early as Monday after completing a medical.

“The club is working hard to finalise the agreements as soon as possible to be able to present him (Ibrahimovic) as soon as possible,” Begiristain said. “It could be Monday.”

Eto’o’s agent said on Thursday the Cameroon international had agreed personal terms with Inter, while Ibrahimovic left the Serie A club’s squad on tour in the United States and returned to Europe.

Spanish media have reported that Barca are paying Inter 40 million euros (£35 million) and midfielder Aleksandr Hleb could move to Inter on loan as part of the deal.

Ibrahimovic would join Thierry Henry and Lionel Messi in Barca’s attack as the Catalans prepare to defend their Spanish league and cup titles and their European Champions League crown.

Arch rivals Real Madrid have spent more than 200 million euros reinforcing their squad, including Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo, Brazilian playmaker Kaka and French striker Karim Benzema.
