Chelsea started the slowly and Bolton had most of the early play. But they couldn’t turn that early play into goalscoring opportunities and Chelsea made them pay as a flash of brilliance from Drogba changed the game.

After collecting the ball from Malouda, Drogba turned and ran into space and fired a great shot from over 30-yeards that swerved and dipped past goalkeeper Jaaskelainen.

Chelsea out the game to rest before half-time when Malouda made it 2-0. Malouda gathered a flick on from a Mikel cross, his attempted shot rebounded back to his feet off Cahill at the far post and Malouda was there to put the ball past Jaaskelainen from close range.

After the break, Bolton came out tried to take the game to Chelsea which left them open to Chelsea’s counterattacks.

Bolton could not handle the speed of Chelsea’s counterattacks and it did not take long for Chelsea to make it 3-0. Essien broke down the left and tried to find Drogba in front of goal. Instead Zat Knight got his feet to the cross and cleared but only to the edge of the box, where Anelka was able to drill home with ease.

There was still time for Ramires to score his goal for Chelsea. After some good work from Essien down the left, the Ghanaian crossed for Anelka, whose shot was blocked. Instead the ball ricocheted to Ramires at the edge of the box and he calmly slotted the ball home.
