USA and Mexico Name Preliminary Roster Ahead of CONCACAF Playoff

Ahead of the massive USA v Mexico showdown on October 10 at the Rose Bowl, both coaches have announced their 35 and 32-man rosters

For the United States, there’s nothing too out of the ordinary in Klinsmann’s selections. Familiar faces such as Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey, and Jozy Altidore are present as is the New England Revolution’s Lee Nguyen, who is one of MLS’s hottest players at the moment.

In addition to Dempsey, who missed this month’s friendlies versus Peru and Brazil as he recovered from a hamstring injury, Fabian Johnson and DeMarcus Beasley have also been recalled after missing the two friendlies also.

Roma v Lazio Rivalry: Italy and Rome’s Serie A Rivals

derby-romaRoma and Lazio have one of the most emotional football rivalries in Serie A. The first derby of the Rome-based competition between the two teams occurred on 8 December 1929. Roma won 1-0 on a goal by Rodolfo Volk. Lazio’s first win, which happened on 23 October 1932, ended with a score of 2-1. The teams have met a total of 176 times.

Known by many names, including the Derby della Capitale and the Rome Derby, it is a sometime bitter intercity rivalry that has been marked by fans engaging in name-calling, racism, and other types of offensive behavior. The seeds of this enmity go back to when Roma was founded in 1927.
