BeIN Sports Says Falcao Heading To Real Madrid

Radamel Falcao defends Monaco move - videoIt would be the blockbuster deal of the summer if it is true. According to BeIN Sports, Monaco striker Radamel Falcao has agreed to move to Real Madrid and that the deal will be announced once the World Cup finishes.

Falcao was not happy with life in Ligue 1, and according to the Spanish newspaper AS, the Columbian striker told his agent Jorge Mende to get him back to Spain, where he starred for cross-town rival Atletico. AS reports that Falcao had at least four offers from the Premiership (Chelsea, Manchester City, Spurs and Liverpool), but rejected them all.

The 28-year-old striker missed the World Cup due to a knee injury, but before that he has built a reputation as the best center forward in the world. Look at his numbers in Europe. At Porto, 41 goals in 51 games. At Atletico Madrid is was 52 goals in 68 games and last season at Monaco he scored 9 times in 17 games.

Signing Falcao will not be cheap. He cost Monaco €60 million last summer and his wages were reported to be around €18.2 million net. But the European champions can afford it, and if defenses were scared of Madrid’s BBC (Bale, Benzema, Cristiano) attack last season, they will be terrified at the thought of facing Bale, Falcao and Ronaldo.

If the deal does go through it will have a ripple effect across Europe. Obviously Benzema will not want to play second fiddle to Falcao, so he will get transferred. Maybe back to France and PSG as PSG striker Edinson Cavani continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford. Or could Arsene Wenger finally take the plunge and buy him?

The signing of Falcao in Madrid will in turn add pressure on rivals Barcelona to make their own big summer signing, which could be Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, giving them their own dynamic attacking threesome in Messi, Neymar and Suarez.

Does any other time in the World come close to Madrid’s possible attacking trio of Bale, Falcao and Ronaldo or Barca’s Messi, Neymar and Suarez?
