Will The Russian Oligarchs Screw Both Spurs And Real Madrid?

Oh I love the twist and turns of a good transfer saga. And the Gareth Bale story just keeps giving and giving.

By accounts Spurs and Real Madrid have agreed on a world record deal that will take Bale to Real Madrid. Real Madrid had began to alert reporters that they would have a major announcement on Friday and the club had started to sell Bale shirts on its official web site.

To replace the Premier League’s Player of the Year, Spurs had lined up two top quality signings. Anzhi ‘s Willian for £30m and AS Roma’s Erik Lamela for £26m

Wilian arrived in London and passed his medical and was all set to sign for Spurs. Then Chelsea got involved.

Reportedly Chelsea’s billionaire owner Abramovich phoned fellow Russian oligarch Suleyman Kerimov, owner of Anzhi Makhachkala, and offered him £32million for Willian. As a result of that call, Willian is now said to be in talks with Chelsea instead of Tottenham.

Spurs and understandably said to be furious at Chelsea nicking Willian from under their noses, and they are now threatening to pull the plug on the Bale deal as they feel that they will be unable to bring in someone else of his quality to replace him with so little time left in the transfer window.

And if Spurs pull the plug on the Bale deal, where does that Real Madrid and their President Florentino Pérez, who have spent the whole summer chasing, and been willing to seriously overpay for the Welsh winger? Perez has staked a lot of his reputation (and money) that Bale is the one to get the club “LA DECIMAL”, its tenth Champions League trophy.

With more than a week left in the transfer window, expect more twists and turns in this story.
