UEFA Clears Busquets Of Racial Abuse

Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has been cleared of racial abuse by UEFA and will be able to play in the final against .

Uefa has dismissed claims from Barca’s Spanish rivals that Busquets racially insulted Brazilian full-back Marcelo in their semi-final.

A statement on Barca’s website read: “Uefa has rejected the complaint filed by Real Madrid.”

Uefa revealed that the allegation against the 22-year-old, which stemmed from the first leg of their last-four clash.

However, European football’s governing body said via a statement on its website that it had “decided to dismiss the complaint lodged by Real due to a lack of strong and convincing evidence”.

Real posted a video on their website before the second leg showing Busquets allegedly calling full-back Marcelo “mono” (monkey) during Barca’s 2-0 win at the Bernabeu.

Not surprised by the news. UEFA has showed a real lack of interest in stamping out racism in football, and they were not going to take a stance now and possibly impact their showcase game.
