Carlo Ancelotti Named Napoli Manager

Quite a coup for Napoli as they have hired Carlo Ancelotti to replace Maurizio Sarri, who led Napoli to two second-place and one third-place finish during his three seasons in charge, as their new manager

‘SSC Napoli is delighted to announce that an agreement has been reached with Carlo Ancelotti for him to become the head coach of the first team for three seasons starting in 2018-19,’ the club said in a statement on its website.

Ancelotti, who is back managing in Italy for the first time since leaving Milan in 2009, says he is coming to Napoli with “the aim to conquer the Scudetto 28 years later” at “one of the greatest teams in Italy.”

Title Race Back On In Italy After Napoli Stun Juventus

Kalidou Koulibaly headed Napoli back into the Serie A title race with a dramatic last-minute goal to down leaders Juventus 1-0 at Allianz Stadium.

The Senegalese defender left it desperately late to score the goal that fired Napoli to within a single point of reigning champions Juve ahead of the last four games of the season.

Massimiliano Allegri’s Bianconeri face a trickier run-in, too, with Champions League hopefuls Inter Milan and Roma providing league opposition in the next few weeks, while there is also the distraction of a Coppa Italia final against AC Milan.

Napoli Increase Lead Atop Serie A

Serie A leaders Napoli beat Roma 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico thanks to a first-half strike from Lorenzo Insigne to open up a five-point advantage over Inter Milan, Juventus and Lazio.

An involuntary assist from Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi set up the decisive goal in the 20th minute as the visitors maintained their perfect start to the season.

The Roma captain accidentally set up Insigne when a loose ball fell at his feet on the edge of the box, sending the forward through with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Napoli’s European Journey Ends at Stamford Bridge

What supposedly a promising season for Serie A teams in the Champions League simply changed in the second leg of the competition after Napoli followed Inter Milan’s path by crashing out in tragic fashion.

The Partenopei saw their 3-1 advantage wiped away at Stamford Bridge as on although the fight goes as far as extra time, Walter Mazzarri’s team simply didn’t have much answer for what hit them at Stamford Bridge.

Napoli Out To Wreck English Football

With the Blues current performances in the league, many are writing them off in tonight’s Champions League knockout stage first leg fixture against Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo.

Truth be said, Chelsea have a mountain to climb in Italy tonight and if reports doing the rounds stating that AVB will start Torres are true, i would urge all Chelsea fans to expect another disappointing outcome.

In fact, Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has issued a warning to the Blues promising to ‘shoot them down’. The Uruguayan international who seems to be holding a grudge with English opposition made himself absolutely clear in an interview with the Daily Star that they are out to eliminate Chelsea.

Roma and Juventus Share The Spoils In Rome

As one unbeaten run came to a close in England, another ws sustained in Italy as the magic hands of Italy and Juventus keeper Gianluigi Buffon earned the Bianconeri a 1-1  draw with Roma.

It’s been interesting to see how the Italian Serie A is playing out these past couples of weeks. Many did not expect the likes of Lazio, Napoli and Udinese to put up such a stiff fight for such a long time.

Juve’s latest result sees them take their unbeaten run in the league to 14 games. Folowing their result, Juve moved back to the top of the league level on 30 points with Udinese. Defending Champions Milan are in third place just 2 points of the lead.

European Leagues Round Up

It was business as usual for La Liga heavy weights Barcelona and Real Madrid as they romped to 3-0 and 4-1 wins over Racing Santander and Real Betis this weekend to continue on their amazing winning streaks.

However, the 2 teams are separated by a single point and a club which many people are not used to seeing on this end of the table – Levante. Barcelona are joint leaders of the league with Levante after amassing 17 points in 7 fixtures so far. However, the Catalans lead the table because of their superior goal difference.

Juventus Beat Milan To Mantain Lead In Serie A

I could say that Milan are normally slow starters to the league however, that would be turning a blind eye to the fact that Juventus and Napoli are the teams to beat this season.

So after collecting 5 points from from games this so far, Milan are in position 15 with city rivals Inter 2 places behind them in the relegation zone with 4 points. This latest loss raises some very deep concerns about the club in general.

First and foremost, why was Pirlo sold? And why does Seedorf have to start every game? If you are a Milanista, you have probably asked yourself this question countless times. The sad news is that you won’t get answers to those questions here.

There is a huge club v country brawl brewing at the Copa America’s as Napoli president Antonio De Laurentiis has warned Uruguay he is prepared to take strong action if they risk the health of Edinson Cavani.

Cavaini, who picked up a knee injury in the group stages, has seen his Uruguay side reach the finals of this year’s Copa America and reports in Uruguay say that they are considering bringing him back into the side for Sunday’s final against Paraguay.
