Lopetegui Tells Bale He Will Be Key Man This Season

Real Madrid have re-affirmed to Gareth Bale and his representatives that he will play a pivotal role for them next season.

Bale, a target for , will be given the chance to take centre stage following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure to .

Ronaldo moved from Madrid for £100m earlier in July, which clears the way for the Welshman to establish himself as the main man at the Bernabeu.

This appears to put paid to any possibility of a move to Manchester United.

United were prepared to significantly improve Bale’s £350,000-a-week salary and offered Madrid the £83.5m it cost to sign him from Spurs in 2013.

Bale’s future had been thrown in doubt after comments made in the wake of his match-winning substitute appearance against in the final.

The 70-cap Wales international struck a brilliant overhead kick and saw a long-range effort spilled into the net by Reds keeper Loris Karius as his side won 3-1, securing Bale’s fourth Champions League trophy in five years in .

At the time, Bale said: ‘I’m disappointed not to start the game.

‘I need to be playing week in week out and that hasn’t happened this season for one reason or another.

‘I need to sit down in the summer and discus it with my agent and go from there.’

Yet Ronaldo’s shock move to has changed the scenery considerably and Bale now appears satisfied his demands will be met.
