Celtic Survives Aberdeen in SPL Action

Former Celtic youth member Charlie Mulgrew dazzled his former supporters with two professional goals as Aberdeen nearly upset Scottish power Celtic in league action.  The 22-year old left back/left winger scored his second goal in the 65th minute to put Aberdeen in front.  It did not take long for The Bhoys to answer.

Australian international Scott McDonald tied the score at 2-2 in the 77th minute.  The match appeared ready to end tied until striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink scored his second on the day.

Celtic remain tied with Rangers for first in the league with 16 points.  In other Scottish Premier League action:

Motherwell FC 2 – 1 Saint Mirren FC
Dundee United FC 3 – 0 Heart of Midlothian FC
Inverness Caledonian Thistle 3 – 1 Kilmarnock
Falkirk FC 4 – 1 Hamilton Academicals FC

Tomorrow, Hibernian FC squares off against Rangers.

In other Celtic news, American goalkeeper Dominic Cervi has signed a three-year deal with the club pending a work permit. Cervi who starred at the University of Tulsa was drafted with the 12th overall selection in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft by the Chicago Fire. He was the second goalkeeper taken in the draft, but failed to reach terms with the Fire.

After showcasing his skills for several clubs around the globe, Cervi and Celtic agreed to terms on September 24.

Cervi was invited to the US national team camp last May.  The team prepared for a string of friendlies against the likes of England, Spain, and Argentina.  Cervi did see action.
