Ashley Cole Our For Three Months – World Cup Doubt

Chelsea left back Ashley Cole broke his left ankle in the game against Everton last night, an injury that will keep him out of the Chelsea line-up for three months, and puts his World Cup in doubt.

Cole’s injury means we might see the combination of Wayne Bridge and John Terry playing along side each other when England play Egypt on 3 March at Wembley.

Three months from now puts Cole’s timetable for being fit round May 11th. Chelsea’s season will end May 8 or 9 unless it advances to the final of the FA Cup on May 15 or the European Champions League on May 22.

England’s first game in the World Cup is against the United States on June 12, but the question is whether Capello risks playing Cole who might not haveplayed a competitive match in four months before the world cup starts.
